You need to know the whole story and not just their financial story. You also need to know what they're passionate about.

Start building your foundation

Building a thriving financial business is centered on taking care of your clients. To do that, you need to build trust by listening to them, knowing what’s important to them, and understanding their life goals. Tune in to this video as six LPL Financial advisors share their approach for creating a personalized, solid foundation.

Enzo Pellegrino: The foundation for our practice is having great team members that work endlessly on behalf of our individual clients and advisors that we're helping to prepare for retirement.

Cynthia Gammon: I think what people want from their advisor is to be able to trust and rely on that person. To listen to them and care about their not only their finances, but their life goals.

Sanjay Das: You need to know the whole story and not just their financial story. You also need to know what they're passionate about. What their, what causes they support, what they're volunteering is, and what do they want to do in their next encore of life.

Nicole Burdick: They need someone that can understand what's important to them, what their values are, but then also connect that to what the potential outcomes of those decisions might be and whether that matches what they want their life to look like.

Shari Miller: I want them to be able to retire comfortably. I want them to not have to worry about when they have to help their children and just to be comfortable.

Enzo Pellegrino: Another part of that foundation is having business processes that are repeatable and scalable so that nobody is forgotten about. And that way you can live up to the commitments that you're talking to clients or advisors about when they're placing their trust in you.

Nicole Burdick: The foundation for everything I do is making decisions that are rooted in conviction and grounded in reality. So that's for me as an advisor, but that's also how I guide my clients.

Sanjay Das: The strategy and approach of our firm, when we're working with clients is collaboration and what's the most important key to any relationship: communication.

Benton Turnage: The way this industry looked five years ago is completely different today. And what it's gonna look like 5 to 10 years from now is gonna be even more of a change. So advisors need to continuously figure out how can we evolve to grow our business to meet our client's needs?
