Eight African American advisors gathered at LPL Financial’s Carolinas campus for an in-depth discussion on how LPL can better support and grow their business. The meeting gave attendees the opportunity to personally connect with other African American financial advisors and home office leaders while sharing input on how LPL can support, retain and attract advisors in diverse communities.

“It was an honor to host our inaugural African American Advisor Business Community meeting with such a dynamic group of LPL advisors,” said Lauren Taylor, LPL assistant vice president, Advisor Diversity & Inclusion. “We had a candid and strategic dialogue, and their voice will inform us as we shape LPL inclusion and business strategies that focus on retention, growth, and recruiting.”

The advisors met with representatives from several LPL business units, with topics including practice acquisitions to succession planning. A few sessions focused around LPL's Virtual Services offering, in which LPL provides administrative, marketing, technology or other support for advisors so they can concentrate on doing what they do best—serving their clients' interests.

LPL President and CEO Dan Arnold stopped by to meet the advisors and reiterate LPL’s commitment to their success. The two-day event culminated with an executive listening session with some of LPL’s managing directors and board members.

Advisor Judy Henry of Digital Federal Credit Union walked away from the meetings with new contacts, valuable insights and a feeling that LPL truly cares about her business and clients. “It was an eye opening experience – one that made me proud to be part of this company.”

Henry said she appreciated being able to provide candid feedback to the leadership panel and said the executives were sincere, connecting with what advisors had to say. “I know my voice was valued,” Henry said.

LPL Advisor Diversity and Inclusion plans to continue its rollout of Advisor Business Communities, engaging groups of advisors from other diverse segments to share their perspectives and offer strategic input on growth initiatives.

“We want to be known for being the most inclusive place for financial advisors in the industry,” said Kathleen Zemaitis, SVP, Advisor Diversity & Inclusion, “and we can’t achieve this goal without partnership and collaboration with our advisor community.”
