Pro Tip: Schedule a Quarterly Content Meeting

Become a thought leader in your field by creating your own content. Don’t know where to start? Read these tips below and learn how to master your quarterly content meeting.

In order to build your personal brand, pick one or two financial topics to post about regularly, and make a name for yourself as an expert.

More and more financial advisors are seeing the value of creating your own content — writing blogs, recording video, and sharing regular posts on social media. The biggest obstacle looming in the way is often the time commitment. How do you embark on this journey and ensure you have the time and energy to remain consistent with meaningful content?

Schedule a quarterly content meeting with your team

As Benjamin Franklin once said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” So, make a plan. Meet with your team once a quarter and brainstorm your content strategy for the next three months. Here are three questions to get the conversation started:

  1. What key events are coming up that we may want to acknowledge?
Check the calendar for holidays and observances. LPL advisors can use the Marketing Content Calendar on the Resource Center on ClientWorks for inspiration.

  2. What’s happening in everyone’s lives?
Does anyone have a major milestone or celebration coming up? Birthdays, graduations, new designations, fun vacations, charity events or conferences you’re attending are a few examples that could be added to your calendar for social sharing.

  3. What topics do we want to be known for?
In order to build your personal brand, pick one or two financial topics to post about regularly and make a name for yourself as an expert. Suggestions include retirement planning, special needs planning, financial strategies for small businesses, etc. Plan to share targeted content on these topics throughout the year, which could be written by you, and/or sourced from third-party content.

LPL advisors can use the social media content library, powered by Gainfully, to find free, compliant articles for easy sharing and scheduling.

Pro Tip: If you have multiple advisors in your office who can contribute, assign topics to spread the work around and demonstrate the bench strength of your team.

By following your quarterly content plan, you’re setting yourself up for content marketing success! LPL advisors can contact the Marketing Consulting team for more information or to schedule a one-on-one consultation.
